Lead Media Relations & Outreach (m/f/d)
In this senior position, you will be responsible for interface's public relations and outreach work on a range of constantly evolving issues at the intersection of information technology and public policy. Your primary objective is to promote new research to the media and position interface and its experts as trusted sources for journalists and content producers across Europe.
A significant part of this role involves planning and executing PR campaigns to enhance the visibility of upcoming publications and reports. This includes translating complex research into accessible summaries and narratives, identifying relevant media outlets and influencers, launching email campaigns, and directly engaging with journalists to offer exclusives or opinion pieces. To succeed, you will need to work closely with our experts to understand their research and perspectives, manage tight deadlines, and stay on top of current news developments.
Beyond publication-based PR efforts, you will also work toward establishing interface and its researchers as a go-to source for any media professional seeking deeper insights into political and technological developments both in Europe and beyond. This requires building and maintaining strong relationships with key journalists and influencers across today’s extremely diverse and fragmented media ecosystem, fostering collaborations between our researchers and media outlets, and organizing tailored digital events for journalists.
This role extends beyond interacting with the media. It involves leveraging our researchers’ expertise and networks to create original content that resonates with all our key audiences—whether frontline politicians, public servants, industry representatives, civil society activists, or academic researchers. Your responsibilities will include identifying relevant discussion topics, organizing briefing events, writing newsletters, and experimenting with new formats to engage and expand our subscriber base.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the communication work of a growing think tank and contribute to interface’s mission of becoming Europe’s leading expert organization on technology and public policy.
Applicants should have a solid understanding of technology policy and at least five years of experience as a full-time journalist or in a PR profession. Your experience as a communications professional should equip you with the confidence and diplomatic skills necessary to support our team of expert academic writers in the process of producing compelling communication formats. Significant experience working in an English-speaking environment is essential, while German language skills would be an asset.
We are looking to fill the role as soon as possible. The role can accommodate either full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (80-90%) work. The successful candidate will initially be offered a two-year contract, with the opportunity for permanent employment thereafter. The application deadline is 6 April.
